A Musical story.....................Huge & Hugo & the Experience
Hugo, owner, originator and still the main dj for Huge DJ Service & Karaoke, started his entertainment career at the tender age of 5. Born in the "old country" in Guadalajara Mexico, he auditioned for a TV show in his home town and experienced his first taste of performing in front of a live audience in front of the TV camera.
No more than a year later his family emigrated to the U.S. and a myriad of musical opportunity came his way from local TV exposure in the big city of Chicago. From his eclectic mix of musical influences, growing up with Elvis, The Beatles, the classic Motown sound as well as Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Frank Sinatra, it became evident that music would be the path he would follow for the rest of his life.
After graduating from high school and having already been entertaining as a singer guitarist in the smokey night clubs of Michigan Avenue throughout his last three years of high school, Hugo continued performing in and around Chicagos Gold Coast. With the entertainment bug hitting him square in the heart, he decided to follow a full time musical calling and quit college at the University of Illinois after only one year there. Working as a full time musician, singing exclusively for the Lettuce Entertainment Supper Club circuit in Chicago, he took a contract as the house singer for Cafe Angelo at the Oxford House on Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago.
Some years later, following a childhood dream, Chicago's loss was Wisconsin's gain as Hugo decided that he wanted to leave the big city for the greener pastures of Wisconsin where indeed, the grass was truly greener. It was at this point that he joined a talent agency in Milwaukee and formed a rock duo, The Hugo Brothers, with his late brother Eddie as his drummer. With their base out of Milwaukee Wisconsin, they went on the road and entertained audiences from North Dakota down to Nashville and everywhere in between. One night, a gig landed the brothers in Monroe Wisconsin where he met his best friend and love of his life Heidi Kay. From the moment they met, there were musical sparks flying and no more than 6 months later, Heidi joined Hugo as his new drummer and proceeded to travel the road creating new musical experiences of their own.
Now, Heidi and Hugo, originally known as Premier II and recently christened with the tag, "The Experience" by their wonderful devoted fans, have many years of combined musical experience between them. They use no recordings, synthesizers or anything electronic except for Hugo's Gold Les Paul or his Casino Epiphone yet they sound like a 4 piece band with just their drums and guitar. Hugo does the lead singing while Heidi helps with the vocals. They have accumulated a repertoire of hundreds of songs for their fans, from the 50's to the present in as many different musical styles including Country, Rock & Roll and even traditional Latin American favorites and are now available to help your event Experience one of the most unique entertaining duo's in our area!
